Katniss everdeen lives in the seam located in district 12 in the country of panem. She is responsible for feeding herself, her sister primrose, and her mother, so she illegally hunts with her best friend gale. Gale, a young man of eighteen, is sixteen-year-old katniss' best friend. On reaping day primrose is chosen. Primrose is only twelve, so katniss volunteers to take her place. The young man chosen is peeta mellark, who is the same age as katniss.

Katniss everdeen, girl on fire, has survived. She awakens from the cruel and haunting quarter quell deep inside the bunkered catacombs of district 13. Separated from some of her closest allies and fearing for their safety in the capitol, katniss finally agrees to be the mockingjay, the symbolic leader of the rebellion. Still uncertain as to whom she can trust, katniss must help 13 rise from the shadows, all the while knowing that president snow has focused his hatred into a personal vendetta against her-and her loved ones.

District 13 calls for an immediate lockdown with all of its citizens descending deeper underground. For days, everyone is underground as the capitol drops bombs. Katniss invents a game with buttercup, prim’s cat, in which she shines a light and buttercup chases it. She realizes that snow is using peeta to break her. She is like buttercup and peeta is the light, always just out of reach. Katniss confides her thoughts to finnick, who maintains his sanity by tying knots in ropes as he worries about his love, annie. After four days, it’s declared safe for everyone to surface. Katniss, finnick, and gale are called to shoot a quick propo aboveground to show that they’ve all survived. On the ground outside, snow has left pink and red roses scattered for katniss, a reminder of peeta. Just as she starts filming, katniss realizes she can’t be the mockingjay because that means hurting peeta. She breaks down and begins sobbing and then crosses into hysteria.

Other books in the series

Meka moves but if this would happen,it would definitely affect the other books in the series ,the whole point of the original ending ,was to piss of the capitol so that there would be more to write on and expand the idea of rebellion against the capitol. But with this ending it kind of just leeds of into a cut off of how meany ideas in the other books happened,like when in the end of the first book,the main game creator /guy with the show more.

Some minor spoilers within. I have read the hell out of these books in the past week - all three of them. It's a tremendously satisfying series of books and every single one of them was hugely enjoyable. However, the last book suffers (a little) from several issues. The first is that it just doesn't feel as coherent as the first two - without the driving force of the games themselves, it has to be a very different book and the characters don't feel quite so credible to me. The second is that the ending seems to undermine most of the central messages i took from the book. It just doesn't gel - it's a jarring misstep to my sensibilities. The third is that the horror of the central plot-line loses a lot of its impact with the half-hearted way in which events are described. Certain characters, i feel, deserved better in their final send-offs.

Peeta in the end /epilogue of mockingjay & in mockingjay

Peeta end/epilogue of mockingjay saw this weird post the other day where someone was like “things mockingjay did wrong” or something and the author was like “have katniss end up with a person who repeatedly tried to kill her. ”- and then implied that he still has impulses to. And i’ve seen like fan fiction stuff where they have peeta like go mutt. And the people write it like it’s okay he still does that.

Does anybody else cry why watching the ending of mockingjay pt. 2 where they are meadow? i sob every time it’s worse when i read the books! 5 comments.

(spoiler alert: there will be book spoilers throughout this post. I haven't read the second and third books yet, so please don't spoil them for me or others in the comments. I look forward to analyzing their data as well, and the integrity of this very important research will be enhanced if i can pre-specify the hypotheses i'll test before i've observed the outcomes.
