After the losers club has performed the ritual in order to stop pennywise, they all think they were successful. But after a moment of relief the losers club realizes that the ritual did not work and that pennywise is still alive, laughing and taunting them. After mocking the losers club of their failure pennywise proceed to transform himself into the closest thing we know that resembles his true form, a giant spider with a clown torso. The final fight against pennywise begins and at the end the losers club is able to defeat pennywise by standing up to it and make it feel smaller than it actually is. They surround and insult it over and over, making it physically shrink and weaken until they are able to tear out its heart and crush it, killing it forever.

It apparently originated in a void containing and surrounding the, a place referred to in the novel as the "macroverse" (a concept similar to the later established todash darkness of the dark tower series). It's real name is bob gray or pennywise (although at several points in the novel, it claims its true name to be robert gray) and is christened "it" by the group of children who later confront it. You could even go with an anti-outfit and just be naked like the pale man from pan’s labyrinth or the crawlers in the descent. But it has to be something that’s consistent (and also cool). Another horror villain has become a gay icon. Welcome to the fam, pennywise. If you haven't had the chance to watch the horrifying flick it yet, it's about a couple of youngsters facing off against one of the most terrifying beasts in horror film history: a clown named pennywise. Why is Pennywise not that Scary?

Let’s start by acknowledging that this evil creature’s full name is pennywise the dancing clown (what kind of surname is dancing clown?), but there is no real origin story as to why this killer clown is even a clown.
