Thrawn and vader meet during the clone wars when he fought alongside jedi general anakin skywalker on a mission to batuu were they both pursued the separatists for their own reasons, were thrawn was impressed with skywalker as a warrior and military leader. While maul gained control over the mandalorian splinter group known as death watch and mandalore itself, he lost his power after he got on the radar of his former master. After losing both his brother and mother, maul returned to mandalore where he engaged with the former jedi padawan ahsoka tano and fled after order 66 was activated in the clone troopers.

But now we can see them the earliest stages of filoni’s ideas for the fateful encounter up close, in glorious detail.

It's been two years since fans of star wars rebels got any new episodes to dive into. The animated series debuted in 2014 and was created by george lucas acolyte dave filoni (who's also been an integral presence on disney+ original series the mandalorian and star wars: the clone wars ), simon kinberg (dark phoenix), and carrie beck. It’s difficult to see her former master like this, and it hurts her to fight him. It’s a powerful moment for ahsoka as she has to put her feelings aside to defend herself.

I can’t wait until the start of  the next season of star wars rebels on june 20. The trailer really sets an interesting tone for this upcoming season and artistically (as far as trailers go) is right up there with the trailers from the clone wars. There’s a lot to be excited about, but i’m most excited about darth vader. When i was a small child, i dressed up like darth vader for holloween (only like once, my family was/is never big on it). He’s perhaps the most iconic villain in cinema history (though there are many vying or that title). I also really like that the artwork is much closer to that of the original ralph mcqarrie drawings (which i think is a great tribute to his work) and not simply a drawing of the theatrical dress.

As space cowboy kanan, vanessa marshall as pilot hera, taylor gray as street-smart teenager ezra, tiya sircar as warrior sabine, steve blum as alien strongman zeb and david oyelowo as agent kallus. Dave [filoni] did share with me, by the way, he considered making starkiller an inquisitor in star wars: rebels. It didn’t quite fit the story they were telling, but he did think about it because he thought that would be interesting.
